May 30th - Bison promoted to the Premier
A successful play off weekend at Sheffield saw the Bison win against the Flintshire Furies (9-7) & the Milton Keynes Falcons (4-1) to gain promotion to the Premier League. The whole team would like to thank everyone concerned with making this season so successful - Dave Murray Head Coach, assistant coaches Andy Murray & Ian Fenton, Captain Emma Toose, assistant captains Kay Carrington/Lisa Collingwood, secretary Hannah Driver, sponsors Hardys, the Toose family & SPB Computer Services, team photographer Dean Rotheram, off ice helpers Gareth, Helen, Martyn, Val, Stephen, Keith & treasurer Dickie Fisher, plus of course all of our supporters who have cheered us on through all our games !!! May 25th - 15th Gold Medal is just Rosy
Proud Bison Ladies sponsors Hardys Cottage Plants have successfully gained their 15th Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. This makes Rosy Hardy the most successful female exhibitor at Chelsea. The Bison Ladies extend their warmest congratulations to Hardys & take this positive news with them to the play offs at Sheffield this weekend.
May 8th - Bison win all over the Bears
A 9-0 victory over the Basingstoke Bears ensured the Bison Ladies the Div 1 South title for the 09/10 season. The Bison got on the board early with a back hand strike by Christy Baker, closely followed by 3 more goals from Julia Burns, Sophie Gilbert & Hazel Stacey. A quiet second period saw only one goal by Jordan Wilshire. In the third period the title was wrapped up by a hatrick by Jordan & Sarah-Jane scoring the Bison Ladies 9th goal with 15 seconds left on the clock. The Bears battled hard throughout the game. MOM was Kay Carrington & spirit went to Peri Edmiston.
May 3rd - Bison battle the Bears
2nd game of the weekend & second win for the Bison in this local derby game with the Basingstoke Bears. The Bison Ladies chasing their title dreams secured the win with 10 goals to nil. Sarah-Jane Nichols netted a hatrick & Jordan Wilshire scored four goals. Faye Andrews, Hannah Driver & Christy Baker also scored. The Bears never gave up throughout the game but Jo Boyce was solid in net for her second shut out of the season. MOM was Julia Burns & spirit went to Caroline Kelly.
May 2nd - Bison whip up a Storm
The Bison Ladies put more pressure on making the title theirs with a 14-1 win over the visiting Streatham Storm. With positive leadership starting from the pre-game team talk by Captain Emma Toose, the herd got to business early in the first peiod with a goal by Jordan Wilshire at 1.06. Jordan then wrapped up a first period hatrick with a goal at 8.56 & a powerplay goal at 11.34. The 2nd period started with a goal by Faye Andrews straight from the opening face off, Jordan gaining a further hatrick, Emma Toose getting on the score sheet & defenceman Peri Edmiston scoring a lovely goal from a give & go pass by Jordan. A trip that seemed to go unnoticed by the refs on Emma Toose unfortunately led to Streatham managing to pull a one back in a goal mouth scramble. The herd continued their strong puck possession in the third with goals by Sarah-Jane Nichols, Jordan Wilshire & defenceman Hannah Driver playing up front as a forward for this game. Two goals by Faye Andrews gave her her first ever hatrick! MOM was Jordan Wilshire who unselfishly asked that it be reallocated to Faye Andrews for her hard work in the game & in honour of her first hatrick. Spirit went to Hazel Stacey for her determined play.
April 24th - Bison go mad in Kent
The Bison Ladies continued their title challenge with a 14-0 win over Kent side Invicta Dynamics. The herd never looked back after Faye Andrews opened the scoring at 1.40. Four goals in the first period, six in the second (inc a short handed goal) & 4 in the third secured the team victory. The win also counted for double points due to Invicta being unable to field a team for the home leg of this seasons match up. MOM was Christy Baker who scored a sweet, close range goal & spirit went to Sophie Gilbert for her superb blue line efforts which also included a goal.
April 18th - Bison extinguish Firebees
The Bison Div 1 title challenge got a step further this weekend as they beat local rivals the Bracknell Firebees 11-3. A strong first period by the herd opened with a superb strike by Faye Andrews, followed by goals by Sarah-Jane Nichols & Jordan Wilshire. An even stronger 2nd period saw the Bison tally move to 8 with Kat Robinson holding firm in goal to stop the Firebees answering back. The third period opened well with a further 2 goals inc one short handed by Lisa Collingwood. The Bison then hit penalty trouble with Faye Andrews being called for a 5+game for a collision along the boards. This gave the Firebees an opportunity to hit back & scored 3 goals in 3 minutes. The Bison rounded off their scoring when Sarah-Jane connected with a lovely pass from Sophie Gilbert. Lisa Collingwood was MOM & spirit went to Julia Burns.
April 10th - Invicta Game Cancelled
The scheduled game today against Invicta is unfortunately cancelled due to Invicta being low on players. The game may be rescheduled if ice time is available or else it will be a forfeit by Invicta. Join us next week as we take on the Firebees!
March 20th - Bison win as sweet as honey
Another superb team effort by the herd secured themselves an 11-1 win at the hive against the Bracknell Firebees. The Bison Ladies were ready to take on the Firebees from the offset. A fast, hard fought first period saw the Bison come out on top despite the Firebees being supported by some of their Premier players. The second period was slightly slower with the Firebees managing to pull a powerplay goal back but the herd pressed on & in the third wrapped up a superb 11-1 win. MOM was Kat Robinson & spirit went to Christy Baker.
March 13th - Bison Season back on Track
The Bison Ladies got their season firmly back on track with a 3-0 win over visiting Chelmsford Cobras. A goal in each period - two from Lisa Collingwood & one from Jordan Wilshire plus a sterling performance in goal by Kat Robinson ensured the herd took the spoils in a double point game. MOM was Jordan Wilshire & spirit went to Kat for her superb shut out.
March 7th - Bison Tame The Cobras
A superb team effort by the entire team ensured a great victory over the current league leaders - The Chelmsford Cobras. A close match with both goalies making superb saves meant the game stayed at nil- nil for the 1st period. Jordan Wilshire managed to break the deadlock at the start of the second period with a goal assisted by Hazel Stacey. In the third period Jordan completed her hatrick & Lisa Collingwood added a goal to bring the Bison tally to 4. Cobras never gave up though & managed to pull 2 goals back but the herd statyed strong for the victory. MOM was Sarah Jane Nichols & Spirit went to Kat Robinson. Bench support from Jo, Hannah & Dave plus text support from Sophie (missing due to a flight delay) made it a complete team victory.
January 24th - Bison Go in Gosport
The Bison Ladies got their season back on track with a commanding 22-1 win over new team Solent & Gosport Amazons. The herd got their 1st goal in just 18 seconds & then preceeded to add a further 21 over the remaining 45 mins. Solent & Gosport did not give up though with Jodie Attrill scoring their lone strike. Returnee Jordan Wilshire scored 8 goals & Lisa Collingwood 7 with all of the Bison Ladies outplayers managing at least one point in the game. MOM was Christy (or should that be Kirsty?) Baker & spirit went to Hannah Driver.
January 22nd - Bison Welcome back....
The Bison Ladies are pleased to welcome back top scoring forward Jordan Wilshire for the remainder of the season. A warm welcome back to herd Jordan.
January 9th - Weather becomes the Winner
The adverse weather that affected most of Britain came out the winner this weekend as it was mutually decided by both Basingstoke & Chelmsford to cancel their game for the safety of travelling players. The game will be played for double points in March as extra ice time is hard to find!
November 22nd 2009 - Bison unable to weather the Storm
A goalie-less Bison Ladies were unable to hold off the Stretham Storm at the weekend. Christy Baker stood up to the plate & made a superb save on a penalty shoot during the game which ended 5-4 in Streatham's favour. MOM was Sarah-Jane Nichols.
November 14th 2009 - Bison stung by Bees
The Bison Ladies had a tough first home game against the Bracknell Firebees who as expected fielded a large squad including some Premier level players. The Bison Ladies got off to an excellent start in the 1st period with 3 unanswered goals. 2nd period was an even affair but by the 3rd Bracknell were relying heavily on their more experienced players & managed to overturn the Bison lead to win 5-4. MOM was Hannah Driver.
October 11th 2009 - Bison back to winning ways
The Bison Ladies got their 09/10 season back on track with a 7-0 win over the Streatham Storm at the weekend. Lisa Collingwood added to her Chelmsford goal haul with a further 4, Emma Toose got her first 2 goals of the season & Julia Burns her 1st of the season. Sophie Gilbert had 4 helpers & Jo Boyce had a shut out in her first game of the season earning her the MOM award.
October 5th 2009 - Brooks back for Bison
The Bison Ladies are pleased to announce that former player & asst coach Caroline Brooks has decided to return to the herd for the 09/10 season. Caroline will be wearing #4 - Welcome Back Caroline!
September 20th 2009 - Bison lose season opener in hard fought battle
The Bison Ladies with a short bench & a player (with mouldy kit eh Faye !) taking over the net minding duties put in a spirited comeback from 6-1 down at the start of the 3rd period to lose to the Chelmsford Cobras by 7-5. Despite the loss, the team can take a lot of positives from the game & focus on the next away game at Streatham. Sarah-Jane Nicholls scored on her debut & Lisa Collingwood earned MOM with 4 goals.
September 3rd 2009 - New signing is just 'Lightning'
The Basingstoke Bison Ladies are pleased to announce that Sarah-Jane Nichols has joined the team from Premier side Guildford Lightning.
Sarah-Jane will be wearing #44 for the Bison Ladies this season & has been playing ice hockey for approx 20 years.

September 2nd 2009 - Season opener announced - Sept 20th 2009
The Bison Ladies first game of the season will see a rematch against League Winners, the Chelmsford Cobras. Last season the Cobras came out 3-1 winners in the four game series & this season the Bison Ladies will be looking to turn that figure around. Head Coach - Dave Murray is aiming for a strong performance from his team to lay down a marker for the rest of the season. Face off is at 12:30 pm at the Riverside Leisure Complex, Chelmsford.
